There are quite a few ausbb.com members that competed at this event, and hopefully a few more in January.

Phenomenal, congratulations to all lifters involved! And good on Nina and Markos for hosting the comp, and so many of the lifters in their own home, very generous.

Awesome results. Some massive lifts there! Looking forward to some footage from this day.

That 500 Wilkes score was well and truly smashed.

Max has already started the video, best one yet with a climax to rival any porno youve ever seen.

Some crazy Wilks scores. Right now, I have a wilks score of 255.

Markos I notice that in the picture of Matt benching 160kg, is his grip the IPF standard of 81cm's wide ? Please don't see me as knit picking, I'm just trying to work out of my bench press grip is too wide or what.

Congrat's to ALL competitors!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for setting the bar so high for me Shorty! 170!

Nobody was measuring grip width. No one cared.

All we cared about was if it touched the chest and was locked out.

A'ight. No problem like I said.

The IPF's rule say that hands must be 81cm's wide when bench pressing & i'm trying to get a visual confirmation on how wide it is

I think your getting a bit mixed up. From the IPF rulebook

"The spacing of the hands shall not exceed 81 cm measured between the forefingers (both forefingers must be within the 81 cm marks and the whole of the forefingers must be in contact with the 81 cm marks if maximum grip is used)."

So only a maximum spacing is dictated, im pretty sure there is no minimum. Im guessing this rule is to limit lifters using a really short bench press stroke, although i dunno how useful it is in this regard (ie search for 'daisuke midote 779 Bench Press 2008 Arnold Classic' on youtube)

Anyway, back to the topic, unbelievable lifting all round:eek: Even getting in the top 20 was tough, excellent effort by everyone. Lovin the deadlift pic.

I'm in awe, not only by the winning lifts but by the generosity of Nina + Markos in hosting such a great bash. Proud to participate ----- oh and Markos, I don't think you need put the mirror under my nose anymore --- I start training tonight for aust. day!

Some awesome results there.

Congratulations to all the competitors and Markos for organising the event.

A huge thank you to all the sponsors.

The support from sponsors has taken this event up a notch. Lifters have voted with their feet. We are sick of assisted powerlifting.

I've never seen prizes like we had at BATB3 in any comp. Most were stunned at getting prizes, every single competitor got at least 2 prizes. I actually had more prizes than lifters, thanks to Adrian from Gym Direct and Jay at Aminoz.

Real men lift raw.

We got a bigger turnout than they do at official powerlifting comps here in Vic, and most states I gather. They even had to cancel the State titles this year due to lack of numbers. Next year I'm going to have to limit numbers if I dont get my garage extended.

Lifting started at 11.00am and finished at 7.30pm. If not for a wedding on the same day, I would've had another 5-6 girls lifting. I'm pretty sure I'll have 50 competitors at Australia Day 2010.

Welcome Monkey Man (James), your lifting at the comp, at 60 years of age, blew everyone away. You've raised the bar for those who cant imagine lifting the weights you do, let alone at your age. See you tonight.

Powerbuilder asked a legitimate question. Firstly, the grip is legal, as Daniel explained, and secondly, this is a PTC comp, we are not afilliated with any other organization.

My comp, my rules. CAPO allow belts and knee wraps in RAW comps. Thats a joke. Powerlifting has 3 lifts, Olympic weightlifting has 2 lifts, PTC has 5 lifts.

The rules at PTC comps are simple. Lift the f u c k i n g weight up, unassisted. Do full range lifts. Control the weight, no dropping.

Strong is strong.

Powerbuilder, you would LOVE the competition. You would THRIVE in that enviroment. Lifting for a comp totally transforms your lifting.

My son Max used to muck around with the weights prior to BATB2 in Sep 08. He decided 6 weeks out he was going to compete. He got his total up from 400kg to 450kg on the day. One year later he totals 624.5kg.

Competition is the single best way to increase your lifts.

David on here hit 5 PB's on Saturday. He totalled 577.5kg, it was his first ever comp. He will now smash 600kg at AD10.

Sounds like a quality hard core comp. I don't go to Melbourne very often, next time I do tho, I'll definetly have to drop into PTC to feel small amongst giants! It's much better that way, than being the strong guy, amongst pencil thin kids lol

So, in the comp, you can't use any gear, ie knee wraps or belts ?

no assistance gear at all, chalk is all you can use. i think thats why these comps appeal to so many people, its raw and the results are based on wilkes score so a 70kg guy can rank higher than a 100kg guy. everyone is on a level playing field
