Not bad mate.

Digging up old classics where I can:

Give this a listen or two to adjust to it, and remember it's olddd.

A little, don't have much of it yet though as just on the journey of discovery with my recent MF find.

I love metal - can always go back and find "new" old classics that you like... which then opens up a whole discography for you.

Too true mate, a quick click on something on youtube that you've missed for all these years.

I didn't post up workout music yesterday

In penance for this indiscretion, I present you with a gem.

Worthwhile finding this particular album (Dead Heart In A Dead World), and playing start to end.

Two of my favourites from the album:

F$%k me,

This kid is 18. We have the EXACT same guitar. Look what he can do! Suffice to say I cannot do this. Closest I've come is playing The Call of Ktulu...

At least I know my guitar is sweet...

One of the best intro's to a song ever, and sure to fire you up before a heavy set!!

I lived in Germany for 3 years, and the metal/hardcore scene there is ridiculous.

It did amaze me what passes for metal these days, though. I mean, I like my fair share of post-hardcore (Thrice, Fugazi, Underoath, etc.)... but a LOT of the bands headlining shows with metal/hardcore support acts were essentially just alternative rock, or hard rock, like Godsmack, Disturbed or Drowning Pool.

Not my thing at all. But it meant I could leave before the post-headliner rush and just get drunk at the pub instead, with real metal on the jukebox.

I'd love to travel Europe and go to Wacken or something... Norwegians, Finnish, Germans, Dutch, Swedes etc....they seem to love their metal!!

Lol, they do. If it was possible to sell me on Europe any more, it would be with the music scene.

When I was stationed there, I'd be going to about 3 shows a week, all metal, all good quality. And I lived in a pretty big party town before I joined the army, loads of local bands on the underground hardcore/metal scene... but I'd never seen that many bands in that space of time before.

Such a great experience, every music fan should hit the continent, for sure :)

Wacken is f*cking awesome

My friends say there are half a dozen other metal festivals that are just as good.
One day lol

For anyone into Epic, lengthy masterpieces then this is for you....been listening to them for a while now

Some other bands which are unknown but awesome are Korpikklaani, Turisas, Enisferum, Finntroll, Primordial...all the good music comes from Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Norway etc...:)

Moonsorrow - Jotunheim - YouTube

I didn't realise your taste was so refined D1cko. Korpikklaani - Wooden Pints is a party favorite around these parts :P good fun.

This may be the greatest metal song ever written, Moonsorrow - Huuto:

And the epic guitar solo finale (starts around 5:00) in this track gives me a semi every time, Barren Earth - Floodred:

And finally, a relatively obscure band out of Russia:
