Heavy resistance training improves your acceleration over a short distance,I found even after I hit 40 that I could still Sprint quite handily.I worked pushing carcasses at a meat works,I found I could easily handle the rigours of the job.I could work much faster than guys who didn't weight train and use my legs to push more.if 35-40 kg carcasses fell off the rails and onto the floor,I could grab them by the hook and shoulder press them 1 handed back on the rail.others would need two guys to pick them up.definite carry over in that type of job
Yeah, a strong core is totally useless for pretty much everything beside power lifting... and a strong back, how does that make your biceps look bigger?
Why even train anything but biceps and pecs, useless.
A lot of the reason Footy Players do a lot of free weight training is because it builds the Core better than Machines. You need a strong Core for all the Grappling/Wrestling and collision. Your Body can handle a lot more collision and impact when the Core is stronger.
