Judging was very strict. Mike T found out on his 2nd deadlift on 365, when he didn't quite lockout the knees but lost grip ever so slightly so that the bar dropped. That would have been in passed in many comps. He was stuffed after that and lost grip at the top again on his 3rd.
SP hurt his back on his 3rd squat (335), which was a PB and PA national record. He also PB'd bench (222.5kg) and was very close to getting 227.5kg (missed just before lockout). He got his 1st deadlift (300) to just above the knee before his injury obviously prevented him from locking out and had to bow out. Not sure the Aus record counts either, because he didn't total.
In terms of team results, Australia came 9th in the men's open, 6th in men's junior and very respectiable 5th in women's open. We would have figured a lot better in the men's had it not been for so many bombs. A lot our lifters were below their best. Apparently the food in Suzdal was horrible.
for myself, only powerlifting record that counts is total.
However, all lifts should be included for single lifts. There are plenty of people who back off on one lift or two to get a record. What about the 245kg bench by the 120kg guy who squatted 180kg?

There is actually a rule in the IPF that you must make bona fide squat and deadlift attempts in order to set a bench WR. The refs should have had the balls to call the Kazakh out on only taking one feeble squat attempt.
IMO lifter of the meet was Krzysztof Wierzbicki from Poland. 810 wr total and 355 wr deadlift at 93kg. And he is a junior. He didn't get the best total on formula, but that result is just unbelieveable from a 23yo.

I disagree. In individual lift medals have always been awarded in the IPF - it's part of the tradition of the sport. If it was a shallow competition, it might appear token. But an individual lift medal an IPF WC is generally bloody hard to win. The medals recognise excellence in the individual disciplines in the most prestigious world championship in the sport.
Fair enough, that is what debate is about. but, not giving individual medals, would ensure that every kilo counts, although I always think one should not kill themselves on squat.
Yes, standard will keep improving, although I hope east Europeans also face stringent drug testing.
