Hey,
I was just wondering if any one can offer their opinion on what is the optimal time to rest between sets of squats, bench press, and deadlifts.
Do you use shorter rest periods for accessory exercises such as bicep curls, skull crushers, flyes, etc?
thanks
Anyone else keen? I'm just into self experimentation so going to start this next Monday the 20th August. Would be good to have a couple of people for support as I can see this being pretty tough!

I have read a few posts on this Forum where people mention rest periods between sets and quote a specific time ie. 60 seconds, 2 minutes etc etc.
Do people really do that, ie sit there and time the rest periods.
I have never considered the idea, I just train. Would rest periods really be...
Just interested to see what people regard as a "Rest Day"
Do you still complete some sort of mild exercise or do you declare rest days as an "Exercise Free" Day?
Me personally, a rest day includes a 3.5km walk, no running but mostly incline walking, but absolutely no weights.
My chest area has the poorest blood circulation out of all the muscles in my body. Do you want to take a guess which muscles have the best blood circulation of all? That’s correct, my whole shoulder area from the neck all the way down to my front deltoids. Now in order for my muscles to grow, I...

Hey just wondering how long someone should rest when it comes to lifting weights for a long period of time (3-4 months). When i say rest i mean 1-2 week rest, or shouldnt you rest at all?
Let me know if you guys think having a rest will help with your progression in trying to gain muscle. Ty
I train in mma as well as doing weights (mainly for strength for mma)
What are people's thoughts on doing double sessions in one day and then next day total rest? I used to do mma MON,WED & SAT and weights TUE,THU and sometimes SUN.
Thinking of doing lunchtime weights MON & WED to go with...
I have to open this up for discussion.
I had a girl come to my gym a few weeks back. Shes extremely nice and had a program that a palaquin trainer gave her, the same guy thats opening a new gym in Perth.
I saw her program and was a bit surprised to find a 5 day split, with squatting only on...
If you are going to the gym three days a week Monday, Wednesday, Friday and doing mainly compound exercises like is highlighted in the programs mentioned on here. Would it be beneficial to occasionally go the gym on a Tuesday or Thursday if you had the urge and do some isolation/different...
Hey guys
Well I train weights Monday, Wednesday, Friday and from what I have noticed in my lifting pattern all my lifts seem to improve on Wednesday and Friday's lift sessions... On Monday (after 2 days of rest eating quality food) I feel a WHOLE lot weaker than what I do on Friday...
Is this...
Ok here i go again with another question! :D
I know it's normal to get puffed out and feel stuffed after some sets but how much is to much? I think i go over board at times and really push myself to get that last rep or two out. if i'm going for 10 reps but feel really stuffed at 8 should i...
I'm currently doing some cardio after a weight session, like: burpees, Tabata thrusters, box jumps and barbell complexes.
Except for the Tabata sets, I rest for 60 seconds between sets.
Is this about right or should I adjust it?
Aiming for fitness plus some extra fat burn.
Just wanted to hear your thoughts on rest breaks between sets. Personally i dont keep track of rest breaks, and usually start my next set when i feel recovered.
2-5mins, sometimes 10 mins is recommend as it allows for the CNS and ATP stores to fully recover before your next set.
main point im...
Hello to everybody,
I have recently started the 5x5 Stronglifts program (about 4 weeks into, but some minor changes) and with my recently bought squat rack I've been powering through.... until now...
Among other exercises I have been doing squats Mon - Wed - Fri, and gone from about 40kg...
Hey guys,
My current training schedule (with an aim to bulk up) is as follows:
Training Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Rest Days: Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
Question is, what should I be doing on rest days? Should I basically be sitting on my arse all day "resting", or is it OK to...
