I competed in my first novice comp over the weekend and had a blast, didn't realise how fun they day was going to be.
Now I've tasted it, I wouldnt mind trying some real comps and as I've never really looked into it, there are obviously a lot of federations to choose from.

Thinking of trying a comp at the end of the year just for the hell of it and I don't know why really, just think it would be cool to say I did it. Won't come close to being on the podium but guess it gives you a goal to work towards and you can get a total marked off then go try and beat it...
I’m saddened to hear that our good friend Frank Manning passed away late last night.
Whilst Frank wasnt a lifter himself, he was a coach, a world accredited referee, and played a pivotal role in the growth and success of the powerlifting comps I hold.
Thank you Frank for your contribution...

I would want to get to at least 85kgs LBM for a comp and hopefully be able to come into a comp at around 90kgs or just under (i.e. ~5%)
Anyone have any suggestions on which comp / fed would be good for a first timer?
Just thought I'd start a thread to see who was planning to going to any of these comps this weekend either as competitors or spectators.
They are in TAS, NSW, VIC and QLD this coming Saturday December 8th. WA had theirs yesterday, and if anyone knows results post them up.
I'm planning on...

Do you recommend carb delepting and carb loading for your last week of comp prep. Three weeks ago was my first show and I used this method and believed i got amazing results. Tell me your opinions on this method
