    newbie home gym setup

Hi Ben, I've got this rack set up in my garage, so I just went to measure it for you. You will need 2400mm clearance from the back wall to get the safety bars out. From your plan, you may just be ok. However, a good area to have is really 3.0m x 3.0m. The barbell is 2200mm so this would give...

    Which pet and why?

Getting on now, probably about 8 years old now. I would never consider to "buy" a pet from a store or seller, when there are so many at the RSPCA needing a home, waiting to be saved. It certainly makes you feel good knowing you have made a difference, as small as it is. Have had a lot of luck...

    Which pet and why?

This is one of my black cats "Spider". Got him from the RSPCA when he was about 6 months old. He brought me this present from the backyard.

How do you KNOW you've had a good workout?

You know when you've done a good workout when, at the end of it, you feel satisfied and proud. Similar to doing a hard day of productive work. Once in a while you get a day when you are smashing everything, one job after another, multi tasking, doing the workload of 3 people, the whole day not...

    Which pet and why?

I have 2 black cats. Would like a Bengal cat, but may eat the other 2.

    cold or warm milk?

Is microwave not available? I always have protein shakes in cold milk. Will have hot milk with chocolate sometimes in winter.

Power Rack - What brand is this one??

It's definitely not an "IronMaster"TM product. It's definitely not Pro either. Probably just a combined variation of names of existing products.

What age did you get serious?

36 now and still no set plans. I'd prefer not to be so serious with training, to be able to stick with it long term. I don't believe you have to be so "serious" to get excellent results. Exceptional/elite results, however, probably does require serious attention, if that is your goal.

Short people burn more calories walking

What about wind resistance? Taller/bigger people will have to exert more force to overcome extra wind resistance. Since the study was done on a treadmill, it did not account for this.

Power Rack - What brand is this one??

It's likely an unbranded rack. No reputable company would sell that rack, as the design is pretty bad. You can only start the barbell from the rear posts, and all the interference at the bottom crossbeam will prevent you from being able to perform most exercises safely. You can't take the...

    Norse power rack

Something not right there: Tube Size 70mm x 50mm x 2.0mm Muscle Motion rack is 100mm x 50mmm x 3.0mm 70mm x 50mm x 2.0mm is not commercial. If you look at this Gym Direct listing, you will see Norse simply photoshopped the last pic from the bottom of the page. The original photo of "REAL"...

    Property Thread revisted

It's best to avoid these selling costs, especially considering your entry and exit costs into this property are considerable. You have a few options to help your cashflow so you aren't forced to sell: Switch your loan to interest only, should take your weekly comittment to around $250/wk. Let...

    Power rack package

Cetrainly looks like a strong rack and a good price for such a heavy rack. However, there are some design issues. You can't do any work in front of the rack because the gun rack is inside the front posts. Also, I always wonder why some racks don't set the rear crossbeam a lot further back. This...

    feeling depressed

This is exactly what I was going to say. One of the essential human needs is - significance. We all need to feel needed or wanted or noticed, etc. The feelings of gratitude you will get from helping others will show you that you are wanted and needed as you make a difference in their lives. This...

    Home Gym Dud Purchases

I bought these dumbbell hooks 2 or 3 years ago now and still haven't used them - COUNTRY POWER INC. I don't press heavy enough to need them really. Might give them a go soon, as I'm doing a bit of dumbbell bench. Probably good for overhead press too, as it's pretty difficult getting heavyish...

    New gym stuff??

Depending on your goals and what/why you are training. I honestly think a lat pulldown/low row (plate loaded high/low pulley) is a worthwhile piece of equipment to have after a power rack. Can do almost all available cable exercises on it. Edit - maybe not what you are looking for, just...

    Psychologist for sport injuries

Negative thoughts will create negative results. A good dose of an Anthony Robbins CD series would work well for you. Always gets me going when I need some massive change in life. Could even find it on YouTube maybe.

    Anyone used fitnessandstrength.com.au?

If building it themselves means manufactured in Australia, this is basically impossible for that price. I'd also check their specifications on the rack. They say 75mm x 75mm x 3mm thick, which is 3" x 3" x 11 gauge. From the pics, it just doesn't look like it, and it would be a very strong...
