mattrix92 as fadi has said you have told us very little about your self, which makes it hard to give advice that will work. i suggest you let us know a few things so we can give you advice that will work for you, such as What your diet is like, what training do you do, your height, your weight, your goals (build muscle is vauge, do you want to be strong, look like a bodybuilder ect) if you give us a few more details we should be able to help you out.
As for the supplements, protein powder is a good supplement. However it is called a supplement because it is there to supplement your diet. I suggest that you try to take in as much of your protein you can through real food like tuna or eggs.
