In would say the common compounds would have been run fairly similar.
Ronnie has the "benefits" or GH, slin, peptides and PH's which weren't really available in Arnold's days.

I wasn't implying anything but rather you sounded like you knew what Arnie and the boys were taking back then and that it wasn't any different to what Coleman and today's pros take.

There seems to be two camps around here, one downplays the effects of steroids and the other gives them magical properties.
Truth is none of us have any idea what and how much any of them take.

I'd say magical coz u rarely see any one on juice wit a shit physique. I know it's all that determination yadi yadi yada pep talk u get when people mentioned it.but its Like fitting a turbo to a car and not expecting it to better performance wise then a stock sedan. Its like bringing a sword to a gun fight its massive advantage for the dude with the gun.

Lets not kid out self here I've had mates on the gear lazy as fuck and terrible diets that would on occasions be lucky to hit the gym twice a week get great results. Discipline and some common nutrition the average joe would be above average with amazing results. U can actually gain lbm from not even hitting weights on test. Genetics or not u will maximise your genitic output. That's Why natural and open classes have there own competitions

I agree. Got some mates that do the same thing. Shit diet, shit program but have the physique that most people are aiming for.

All this stuff that on the gear you have to work out twice as hard and all that shit is crap. Of course you will get better results that way but add gear on to any program and you will get better results.

I always laugh when people on roids say they have to train harder than nattys, to get better results.

Look at Yates, says he trains 4 days a week, under an hour a session. Huuuge
 
As for dosage, i doubt that amount was as great in 1970s.

However, I think today bb's and athletes are also much better informed with diet, which would add to benefit from other PEDs not around in earlier deacdes.

As for dosage, there are plenty of studies thast show diminishing returns after a certan level. From what i have read about steroids, and i read many academic studies conducted from the 1950s to 1990s, max results occur at around 3 times recommended dosage for normal person with therepuetic aims.

One study from testosterone propianate shows that levels of nitrogen retained peaked at 25 mg per day, even though tests went up to 100mg per day.

I also read one interview with Tom Platz who suggests best results were when he took moderate dosages.

Platz states 'The best I ever looked was in '81 according to many; I don't think so, but everyone else does. In '81, I was on 10 Winstrol tablets a day (three mg each) and a shot of deca durabolin once a week. That was it'.

Yates trained differently than most, which also goes to show that most of the elite are big in spite of how they train rather than because of the way they train.

But Yates did have an amazing physique and he built this physique using less frequency than most.

Yates was a risk taker extraordinaire and a world class mofo as far as toughness, I enjoy watching his workouts.
 
What's relevant is- is that most of these big and stong blokes predominatly lived in the higher rep range and not the 1~3 rep range.
