I came across something interesting today.

Most people talk about loosing weight ect

Sumo's need to gain weight, and lots of it.

from hundreds of years back the sumo tradition is to eat as much as possible, then they take a nap after every meal. This is said to store everything as fat.

Now, there is lots of talk in the weight lifting world that food timing is all bullshit and its overall calories....

If its true, this would mean that those of us who have a meal very close to bed are storing it as fat?

The way i see it, if you were in a caloric deficit for that day then that would not happen, but say if you re eating in a surplus, and say eating LG style according to sumo's you would store all that as fat by going to bed shortly after.

They also believe in training first thing in the morning on an empty stomach as this helps slow down the body's metabolism and makes burning calories more difficult.

Again, in our world we say empty stomach cardio helps to burn fat

They will only ever eat 1-2 meals per day

This ensures a great calorie surplus and maximum weight gain. When you eat a large amount of calories in one sitting, the body will use up what it can and then fill your extra energy reserves for later. When your storage gets full, everything left over is stored directly as fat.

I don't buy into it, But its interesting how they think compared to our community

Doesn't really compute!

So no muscle repair and building takes place during sleep? Everything just gets transformed into fat does it? And I'm sure one can eat more overall in the course of the day over multiple sittings rather than confining it to just 1-2 big ass meals.
