Apparently he has got a coach and gone back to the drawing board on those lifts which is good because none would have passed a comp.

Arched benching does not necessarily denote compensation for a weaker bench. It often plays towards a lifter's strengths more than anything.

Agree but I still hate massive arches and tiny ROM on the bench.

Why's it an ignorant call?
A ridiculous arch serves to reduce ROM, surely you're not denying that?
A ROM of 14" is far more impressive than a ROM of 6" with the same weight

And where did I say that it compensates for a weak bench FFS.
