Recommended Physio, 4 Shoulders, Brisbane

Anyone know any good physios in Brissy they could recommend?

Particularly looking for one who's used to dealing with stronger than average people / people who do a lot of weight training, with a knowledge of typical bodybuilding exercises.

I want an assessment of my shoulder strength, getting some funny noises occasionally during overhead pressing movements, and sometimes during bench. I think it's due to muscle imbalances (weak rear delts) but it's odd since I made sure to train those from day 1. Could also be my external rotators, which I read to train once you could do bodyweight x 6 on the bench (which I'm not far off of at 100kg bodyweight).

Weak bench for someone with 4 arms!

Noises are not normally an issue unless you get pain with them. Rotator work should be done by everyone no matter what their level of strength. If you get discomfort then see a physio it would also be good to get some form checks done.

If you want the best, travel shouldn't be an issue.

Hands down, best physio in Brisbane is Laurie Townsend.
He has been oly lifting for over 40 years, vice president of the weight lifting committee and travels to worlds every year, or every second year....

He knows his shit, and is next to the banyo train station.

He will be booked solid, but tell him scotty from Ptc refered you and he will squeeze you in ASAP.

I have had shoulder surgery and i can tell you now if you think you have a problem get into see your GP asap and get it looked into, if needed get a referral to see a specialist. Stop your pressing movements in the gym and take care of your health. If you can avoid having any surgery and just treat it with physio then even better.

Going well thanks, physio gave me the green light for training and a few stretches - did comment that they were very tight. I'm glad I went.... have suffered injuries in the past with my left bicep / elbow that put me out of action for a while. He also gave me some pointers for bench press form.

Funnily enough while checking out my shoulders he looked at my left arm and said 'did you once have a bicep tear in your left arm?'. I found this amusing cause at the time I hurt it years ago the physio back then couldnt work out what I'd done wrong and just hooked me up to a massage machine.

Needing to find a physio in brisbane also for Wifey's knee, live on the southside.

Would be good if they were open saturdays haha...

I can see this thread is quite old, but if anyone else is interested in shoulder physio, I highly recommend Activer Rehab facility. They have a great rehabilitation programme for knees and shoulders, and I am one happy patient that was fixed by the hands of doctor Hardy. I found them o Google and searched for reviews, I found nothing but satisfied patients. Here, look no further: Shoulder & Knees Physiotherapy in Brisbane | Active Rehab
