Emma came in again after her massage course. I think it was her last lesson.

Mate, she squats lower than 99% of morons at the gym I frequent, the only exception is me. I go below parallel.LOL :)

of that 99%, 99% squat on the Smith machine..No joke. srs

I've never really understood the need to stand behind the squatter and squat with them.

I think a far more effective method is, if you need to support the lifter, is to stand behind the squatter while holding on to the bar lightly with both hands.

If one is going to squat maximum weight for one rep, one needs to practice dumping the bar.
 
Depending on how she feels about you, that could be a very motivating spotting position to get the weight up so you don't cop a feel....or a very motivating spotting position to not push so hard and ensure the receiving of a feel. Use this information as you will.

(Also, good job to her).
 
If I can get down to the truck people this week I will be able to set up the safety slings properly.

That way I can be lazy and not do any spotting :p

She's been having hip issues since moving her squat stance out so we're giving it a few weeks then working back up from the bar
