Colgan Institute experience anybody?

So, I'm almost 40 and out of shape. Been a long time since I've done serious exercise. After going for a few runs I'm realising joints are not what they used to be. Long story short, after a lot of research (another word for procrastinating on actually starting my weights!) I've picked up some stuff by Michael Colgan. I've read a lot of this guys nutrition and supplement work and in that field he seems pretty switched on.

Anyway, after the ramble I'll get to the question. His workout has three main stages to it. Starts with an eight week extension-connection cycle to build strength and stability into the joints and tendons before getting into the serious muscle/power development. Has anybody tried his workouts or know anybody that has?
