Bodybuilding vs Strength Training

I don't know that much about them, but I'm curious why you have that opinion?

The ACSM Only provide research based guidelines and the problem is research is far behind real training programs for effectiveness. In fact the research is only good to point out why somethings work. So if you follow ACSM guidelines you will have sub par results.

I agree that if you only base what you do of their guidelines then you may have sub par results, but they are just that guidelines.

Tthey also seem fairly broad. I think there are worse places to start from.

most people start out with those kinda guildlines though.
Majority of things people read on internet and are told by personal trainers is something pretty similar.

Notice that the guidelines for progressive resistance training fail to mention something important: progression.

There are no ACSM guidelines on how and when to progress the resistance. You just start at 60% of 1RM for 3 or so sets of 8-12 reps and... um...

It was the same with the guidelines we were given in Cert III/IV. It's just not addressed.
