Random question, does anyone know why Markos here prefers a SLDL to a regular deadlift for beginners?

Newbie's are typically quad dominant and need direct hamstring work to strengthen that area.

I think your on to something here. Im a newbie and since i have added SLDL's into my workouts my squats have improved heaps. I think its mainly because now when i squat my hamstrings and glutes are more engaged to before i started doing SLDL's.

Lol. the westside talk on weak areas for beginners.

Newbies are not quad dominant.

Newbies are fucking weak all over.

I can't see why a beginner could not do regular deads in the program if they wanted to. I actually think it would be better.

I'm not going to bother arguing but it isn't just Louie Simmons that suggests most people have a weak posterior chain.
You'll find plenty of past/current posters on here whose lifts and knowledge is 100x greater than both ours combined who would agree that SLDL/RDL are imperative for the beginner lifter.

Reg deads don't work the posterior chain.???

Most people are weak full stop. Better off learning the basics for a start. Then when they actually get some strength start fixing any weakness.

Bazza, I totally agree with your thoughts.
A beginner should include deadlifting, you are correct.

I have beginners do BB squatting followed by SLDL

SLDL and regular dead lifting are not the same and cannot be compared.

I rarely see a trainee do SLDL properly.
