Well I have to say that was one of the best games I have ever watched live. Suncorp is an awesome place to watch rugby...league or union.

Barnes was poor, but O'Connor was complete shit. His defensive errors and kicking were truly reserve grade material.

Sorry to say but I think if any other 10 had played we would have won.

JOC dropped or to the bench as a utility back - Mogg to 15 - Beale to 10 and Toomua on the bench as replacement 10.

JOC had no control at all and looked out of his depth - I think the buzz around him is starting to get greater than how well he can really play.

I think you have put that perfectly.

It is very hard to turn a finisher into a ball player. Genuine ball players like the number 10 position and the league halfback, five-eighth have years to learn their trade as they grow up.

One other thing I noticed last night was the second half scrum. Australia seemed to have the edge after the Lions starting props were replaced.
 
Cooper to the bench hopefully, maybe even Nick Cummins from the force on the bench as a reserve outside back. Ioane was outgunned last night, out of his depth, kept quiet. Unfortunate as he's usually quite dynamic..
 
How the hell does Parra who are running last get a Sunday afternoon Channel Nine game. Poor programming.
 
Same way the tigers have had a heap of friday night games lol. Though im happy about that as im a supporter :eek: but still never made any sense to me.

What a match last night.
Aussies were unlucky with injuries, but lucky with getting penalties.
Barnes concussion was sick to watch, twitching all over.

Match 2 will be great.
 
Lucky Titans got Melb without all the Origin stars.

Origin fucks up club footy. I hate Origin for that.
 
Digby Ioane out of Wallabies too! Warrant out for his arrest. Hopefully Nick Cummins or Drew Mitchell get a call up...

What are the chances of Robbie Deans moving O'Connor to the wing to replace Digby?

He could put Beale at 10 and Mogg at 15 then if Barnes is not playing???

I think he'll keep O'Connor at 10 unfortunately. Beale to fullback and Mogg on the wing to replace Ioane?? I like Mogg in the superXV, but is he up to facing the Lions & George North? It'll be a great game. Can't wait
 
I don't know....Mogg that is.....

I think you would be better using Mogg at fullback, otherwise if it is a wing position you would think a specialist winger....which is what O'Connor really is...

Having said that I am not sure how much time Mogg has or hasn't spent as a winger....he may be a gun for all I know.

And yes Taurus.....I think you are right...Deans will most probably play O'Connor in the same spot agian. Honestly, with Genia inside of me I reckon I could have done a better job than O'Connor...I can certainly tackle a lot better than him!!

So where does that leave Beale if Deans leaves O'Connor at 10? He went well off the bench I thought. O'Connor isnt a great defender, but I dont think too many people in world rugby would've stopped North from scoring that try! lol
 
I am not referring to that one....the miss he made when he was looking for an obstruction call in the second half.....

He should have put his shoulder straight through the sternum of the lead runner and then peeled onto the option...

North's try in the first half was down to a Pat McCabe shocker.

Yeah....Beale...good question. He played really well i thought, I would suggest he did a better job than Barnes was doing.

Oh yeh. Maybe in rubby league it would have been called but not union, you're right. Also a terrible, nothing kick from Barnes gave North way too much space..
 
Nick Cummins is prob one of the most under-rated Aus players - in some respects I rate him higher than Ioane - prob the best defensive winger in Aus and hard as shit runner (Cummins this is)

For me id drop JOC - Mogg 15, Beale 10, Cummins on the wing.

Barnes honestly wouldnt even be in my mind to make the team - not sure why they had a centre/10 playing fullback...just doesnt work.
 
From what Ive heard, Cummins is considered a weaker player due to his kicking. International teams (and some superXV) kick over his head, turn him around, force him into a kick and they end up on the front foot as his kicking is weak... A current superXV player told me this only a few months ago.... Thats why he runs it almost everytime its kicked to him. Which can sometimes leave him isolated as well. Interesting play on things eh... I rate him highly too as you know!
