    Front Squats, which grip?

I recently started Front Squatting due to flexibility issues in my arms/shoulders for rear squatting. Have been doing the cross armed grip, but am definitely going to buy straps and make the change.

    Major Exercises & Commercial Gyms

There's one Power Rack and a Smith Machine at my local. I have never had a problem using the rack..... In the short time I have been using the gym - I have seen one female doing dead lifts and one guy doing front squats. It's great for my needs to use the rack. Actually got to see "half...

Ausbb Novice Workouts First 2 months

I am 2 weeks in on picking up free weights for the first time in my life. 1RM - No idea when you start. I am doing a modified version of StrongLifts5x5 and find it "easy" to introduce me to strength training.

lol @ Mehdi not being bigger because he doesn't take steroids

I'm a noob, I have nfi what that means. Let's say I achieve my goal 100kg body weight - what does that equate to what I should be able to lift to be deemed "legitimately strong" ? How many people on here (who have been lifting for less than 2 years) are legitimately strong?

lol @ Mehdi not being bigger because he doesn't take steroids

Give me time.... For all the haters - I am more than happy to prove a point. I chose to start on the SL5x5 program and am currently on my second week. I have made minor adjustments and will probably continue to do so (not on the 5x5 core idea, just the frequency/weights). What is...

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

Yeah, bugger that. As of last Sunday I changed my eating/drinking habit and I think it has shocked my body completely. I want to eat to fuel my muscles and help burn off that fat, just needing to make the right choices on what that food is. It's simple, I am drinking 3-4ltrs of Water every...

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

That's much more full on than SL5x5 to do all of the same exercises - but all on every workout. I do like the sound of it though. Today for me was Squat/Bench Press/Barbell Row, to which I think it's near impossible to do sets of Rows with an empty bar (same as deadlifts). Having said that...

First CrossFit Study: It Works Wonders, If You Can Survive

^ why I chose not to do CrossFit. I went to the free trial session and just watched. Not at all keen on becoming a part of the high rep poor form just to complete the WOD crap. What I saw put me right off Crossfit for good. This was at a box where friends of mine frequent and recommend.

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

^ this. SL is not something that I would expect to continue to do always, but merely an introduction to lifting heavy weights, building lean muscle, burning fat and setting me up for future programs that will further develop my physique. For the moment - can't go past it for what it is. Cheers.

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

As it evolves, I have no doubt that I will branch out from SL 5x5. I did my very first workout this morning and for someone who has never lifted, I was happy to have an empty bar on the Squat and Bench Press. Practice Practice Practice. I had 20kg on the bar for the Barbell Row and enjoyed...

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

130kg at 183cm tall 1st June this year. currently - 119.3kg. I have previously had an absolutely appalling diet. KFC, Chips/Potato Cakes/Egg & Bacon Rolls...No breakfast ever, drank no water ever, heavy smoker, high amounts of coffee daily.... So yeah - I need to learn how to eat correctly ;)...

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

I have been doing almost as much reading on food intake of late. It's a further challenge to get that side right (more important). I will be drinking water, eating up to 6 times a day, lean and healthy good food. I have "myfitnesspal" but wasn't sure if counting calories was really...

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

Cheers for the replies guys. From your responses, I believe it would be fair to say the SL program is a good step into the right direction. I also believe that the program itself is not set in stone and if I want to up the volume (particularly when the weights are minimal), then go for it...

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

They are similar, but there are main differences such as: SS - you find your lifting weights pretty much upfront, it has slightly different exercises and progressive reps, unlike StrongLifts. I have natural strength and figure with good form, I will get right into lifting heavy weights, just...

    NOOB Question StrongLifts and StartingStrength

Hi all. I apologise if this has been covered to death previously somewhere. I have never lifted weights but want to do a strength training program. I read through the SL guide and was all set to start with this program, then I read all the haters posts across a range of sites - apparently SS...
