Knee Wraps

A strength athlete doesnt need to use knee wraps no. But competing in Powerlifting where they are allowed you'd be silly to leave kilos on the platform.

No problems with using them sparingly during training. They're good for getting confidence with the squat or coming back from injury. . Pity IPF raw doesn't allow them in competition but thems the rules.

There's a few oly lifters wearing them in competition but they have an extreme and ballistic range of motion so I suppose it may help prolong their careers a bit.

I'm using an old pair at the moment so I can focus on rehabbing an injury without worrying about my old knees flying to pieces.

Good point mate - rather than focusing on how much extra wraps will give you maybe people should start thinking about how much wraps may save your knees in training in the long run.

Weightlifters will use a very light wrap, like medical bandages
They need a lot of active knee flexion, can't do that with a pair of metal silvers lololol

When i was harder and younger I used to put them on from four and half or five plates onwards which is probably why my knees are not that bad now. Been using them from four plates onwards lately because I am old and weak but will hopefully not need them at this weight for much longer.....

I think Hatfield frowned upon using belt or wraps at less than 90%. I don't think he ever had a major knee injury.

I've seen them with the white and double yellow striped wraps which used to be the bee's knees in powerlifting once upon a time. They just don't wear them like a torniquet as some of the powerlifters do.

I put belt on at 70% and do half my 80% sets without wraps at my wrapless max and then wrap up and do the other sets at 80% or more at my wrapped max

I add a belt on 170, wraps on 220. Then it depends what I'm working up to. Warm up is always bar, 70 120 170 220

I've been using stretchier wraps recently. Had been in metal silvers and strangulators. Spent some time in the Metal Blacks, now I'm in 2m THP's which I feel is a good cross.

Metal silvers are very exaggerated as far as a stiff wrap goes. Like metal blacks they wear down very quickly. Not as brutal as people seem to think.

Best pair of wraps I've ever used are Overkill though, unfortunately they're more retarded than APT as far as service and keeping stock. It was like a super thin strangulator but God did it bite hard. I had a tough time making depth with 220.

So Inzer Z's, metal blacks, both good beginner options.

I met a great guy at worlds, makes the best wraps I've seen in ages.

I will be the aus distributor very soon for a heap of gear, I'll keep you updated.

Thanks I appreciate it
The Z's are much better now I am pre-stretching them. They do not hurt

Also just so you know... I am an Australian distributor of websites and if you're interested you can PM me for a portfolio ;)

I have no idea what that means lol.

I know next to nothing about it except how to use forums, emails and redtube.

Hi guys,

New to the forum here.

Anyone know where I can buy APT knee and wrist wraps locally in Aus?

I've seen online stores in Canada stock them, but none ship outside US / Canada.

Cheers

Suck it up and pay for shipping
That's what you get for living is Australia braz

You won't find them in Aus but shipping is only $16 so it's no big deal.
