View Full Version : Re-training lungs after chest infection

Hi all, just recovered from a drawn out chest infection, which laid me off training for a good 2 months, anyhow, plan to get back into training but have been easing back into it with some light callisthenics and jogging (nothing too intense).

Anyhow, my lungs are knackered!
feeling pretty tight, coughing up phlegm, no energy.
Pretty worried that I might do more damage than good, I have eased off that, but thinking that I need to do some breathing exercises to retrain my lung capacity and oxygen intake.

Anyone been in the same boat or know of any lung exercise regimes for rehab?

It's something you'll have to ask your doctor, mate.

You need to ease back into things even if it is power walking until your lungs catch up. It shouldn't take too long. Have a talk to your doc to be safe. Just slowly push up the intensity until your respiratory muscles catch up and the gunk is all gone. But once again consult your doc first.
