I have had lots of bad advice re deadlifts. Its amazing the amount of people that just dont know how to do it or have a warp idea on how to do it right.

You're right kindred. From an onlooker's point of view it looks like a simple movement. Nothing to it really, just lift the weight up. That may be true until such a moment as the weights are piled on, then the exercise begins to take a different shape all together with bad techniques coming out.

Nearly everyone is a great technician when the weights are relatively light!

Interesting view. I tend to find that my technique is all wrong when the weights are too light! Because I'm just not moving enough weight to do it properly.

I agree with both of you. Too light and I don't have enough resistance to get my form right, this is very evident with Powercleans. Once pushing very heavy I feel that my form can then go walkabout again when I am busting my ass, again - Powercleans.

As long as you get tight from the ground with Deadlifts, keep a good arch and the bar close to your body. All should be right.

You also make an interesting point Katie. And yes it is relative as Josh has commented in his reply. This is like that cereal advertisement, not too light, not too heavy; just right!
