Why Policy?

Is not being able to afford it the only reason sticky?

How much does it cost?
If some organisation / department fronted up with the moolah for testing, what would happen?

Sticky, i think some sort of policy statement would be important, but that is up to you guys.

I think even non-tested feds are much cleaner than decades ago. In this sense, debate about drug testing has had an effect.

In the end, lifters will speak with their feet. In a sport like powerlifting, there is a viable future for several feds, although who knows what will happen in future.

I still have an interest in all feds and appreciate good lifting, full stop.

I do agree we need both feds... absolutely. There are guys that want to be on PEDs and those that dont.

The problem is in this country is PA is so stringant it makes it difficult for the natural lifter to be a part of.

Thanks for coming back on "topic" guys. In the space of a few days the discussion has evolved and I commend the Moderator for his willingness to at least endorse a policy position.

The testing issue is a different matter and there may be a solution to that at a different time should the culture ever be willing to make the adaptation.

Saying that makes it sound like GPC is for PED users which isnt true, some of us just want access to multiple events with multiple participants.

You're putting words into my mouth... where did I even mention GPC?

GPC, like WPC is an alternative which myself and others would love the opportunity to be part of, along with PA.

Im a big fan of GPC, Im the official record keeper and am involved at the committee level.

I know how strongly he feels about them.... Thats what the threads are about.

I just asked who he is so I know who Im talking to.

We will meet one day. Unfortunately I need to maintain a degree of separation and anonymity due to some of the roles I presently occupy. Sadly, I lack the ability at this particular time to be able to contribute as much to the sport as yourself and the GPC movement has in recent times.

When I make the necessary transition away from some the stuff that keeps me off the streets now, it would be an honour to hold office in the organisation of my choosing or in any of the sporting administrative bodies. That is typically something that a wrinkly old semi-retiree would choose to do.

So do you want it underground or not, pick a side haha.

There are some pretty "underground" / unpopular sports in the Olympics... less people weightlift than powerlift in western countries, hammer throwing is pretty underground etc

I just don't want every ****** in the gym taking up my fucking squat racks, it's bad enough as it is with everyone just wanting big arms and NOT taking up my squat racks, let alone them actually squatting... especially as 99% of people do not have the willpower to stick with something, so it will just be beginners all the fucking time... wouldn't mind if the population got legitimately strong but lets face it, not going to happen lol

Also I would more than happily be drug tested if they tested for PEDs... The fact is though the term "PED" is so fucking warped that it will never happen. If they just banned hormones then that would be good. I'm 50/50 about banning shit like amphetamines as they DO give you a strength boost. However, there are plenty of "legal" compounds that give just as much of a boost, so why is speed on the fucking list? Same with EPO, you can get the same effect with multiple other "legal" methods so why it is on the list I have no idea. Same for clen/albuterol... no real reason to have these on the list. I would also allow the use of androgen replacement therapy as long as people stay within a "natural" range. Even if it's self prescribed. Levelling the playing field in regards to hormones is not cheating in my books

Many diuretics are just plain dangerous, I think they should be banned more for safety than anything else. Don't need people dropping dead. Stuff like opiates, cannabis, drugs that help you "recover" or get a good nights sleep - give me a break there is no reason to have these on the banned list

Oni if PL was more popular thered be a lot more of that equipment un the gym. The reason you have to wait for it now is because its unpopular so gyms only buy 1 or 2 racks.

You'd probably find more specialist gyms pop up too which gives everyone more choice.

Are you thick or what? Of couse clen and albuterol are peds their both asthma meds designed to open up the airways, a side effect of that is increased lung capacity albeit temporarily in those that abuse them.

This and your post about depressents not affecting your training are just stupid.

I'm going to take my chances on that one
It's just not a sport that will become popular because people can't get good at it overnight.
Sorry for insulting your national sport here but I'm playing footy in A grade in my second season. It's pretty easy to get "average" in it. Same with cycling or rugby or tennis. Lifting isn't the same, you get good real fast then stall like a bitch unless you stick with it. Then it's not like other sports where you can actually enjoy going out and playing it even if you don't get any better, it pisses you off to the point of near madness. This is why it's a niche sport in my eyes

Have you ever taken albuterol or depressants for long periods of time Fluffy?

You're saying you have?

Yes... I took albuterol for cycling many times, in which it IS a very good PED. Albuterol will not add a significant amount to your total at all... it will help you get lean and turn you into a cardio maniac. It's very shitty as far as a stimulant and there are loads of better stims that are allowed by WADA policy

I was an opiate addict for two years and it had zero effect on my training, both cardio and lifting. I know multiple people that take opiates regularly that are strong

Honestly if you're using opiate or benzo use as an excuse for being weak... you're a pussy
We are not talking about full blown addiction here, just once or twice a week
