Hey guy's, I don't know if theres a thread on this but i'm really interested to see how other people started? Like how much could you lift when you first started?
I've been at it for 5 weeks ( yes very new;) ) and i started with 50kg BP 15 kg concentrated dumbell lifts. 30kg 21's, squat 70 kg and others ect. ( im still yet to learn names of workouts )

I can't remember exactly, but I started around 13months ago.
At 69kg My lifts were:
Bench 60x1
Squat 80x1
Dead 120x1
Mp 30 or 40x 1

Check page 1 of my journal, it was what they were

Current weight 79kg, 13% fat, going to pull 215kg smooth this arvo :).

Been training for 9 months now.

Starting: BW 147kg
Bench: 3x8 60kg
DL: 3x8 90kg
Squat: Didnt do them for like the first 4 months lol, such a noob
Row: 3x8 40kg
Military: 3x8 30kg (2x15 DB's)

Now: BW 107kg
Bench: 5x5 95kg
DL: got up to 155kg 5x3 but havent been doing them because i strained my back
Squat: 5x5 97.5kg
Row: got up to 5x5 85kg but strained back
Military: 5x5 60kg (barbell)

Been training for 23 years now.

1987

Buggered if I can remember what I did 23 years ago, but it was pitiful. Something like:

Bench Press: 40kg
Squats and Deads: You kidding, never did those.
Bicep curls: 20kg easycurl bar
Chin Ups: Couldn't do 1. Part of the reason I started training as I needed to do 6 to pass my BFA in the military GRes.
Running: I could do 10km in under 40min flat. I was a skinny little runty fellow with abs of steel but no arms or upper body.

2010

Slight improvements...

Cheers,
Mike

Before any gym at all back in 2006:

- 91kg, easily 30+% BF
- Barely 1 proper push-up. Maybe 7 cheated ones.
- Maybe 20 bodyweight squats before I passed out.
- Could deadlift my laptop bag.
- Never ran further than 1.5km

Worst shape of my life!

When starting weight training in 2009:

- 71kg, not sure about BF% but I still had some bitch tits.
- Did a half marathon & regularly ran 10km
- 30~40 push-ups, bench 40kg
- Squat 40kg x10 ATG.

Where I started (Feb last year)
- 75kg @ 6'0. I was always really healthy, running of a morning and eating very well, and I paid the price by being half the size as my friends.
- 70kg squat for 3x5
- 50kg bench for 3x5
- 100kg deadlift for 1x5, though realistically it was closer to 120kg.

I was squatting 120 for 3x5, benching 70 for 3x5 and deadlifting 140kg for 1x5 within a few weeks, I was 80kg~ by then too.

Today in 2010 I'm 108 on a bad day and 111 on a good day (to put that into perspective that's only ~3.5kgs gain a year) and my mummified numbers are
Squat 325+
Bench 200+
Dead 300+

Dunno about weights but I have seen my bodyweight change a shit load over the last X yrs.

Started 15 yrs old: 120kgs (just started walking 1-2 hour a day and eating less)

6 months later I was 85kgs - went back to rugby and ppl didn't know who I was - I had also grown my hair lol

16yrs old: In the gym training with ACT rugby team - loving it! - loving it so much I dropped Rugby after I got injured.

17yrs old: Totally focusing on bodbuilding - upto 98-100kgs

Then 16 week cut (only 2 cheat meals the whole time) - down to 79kgs (ripped) - was going to do my 1st bb show here - but didn't happen.

18yrs old: Back upto 90 odd kgs

19yrs old: 88-93kgs

20yrs old:
95-105kgs

21yrs old: 105-115kgs

22yrs old: 110-120kgs

Iam thinking of doing a cut starting over the next month or so - to try and drop to 100kgs - just don't know how it will be with running a business, studying and trying to keep a gf lol
