Hi guys and girls,
I'd like to introduce a new DXA business in Adelaide called Adelaide BodyScan, I have included some information about our service. If you require more information you can find our website at Adelaide BodyScan Bone Density Bone Composition, on facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/Adelai...17462445048717 or alternatively call us on 1300 880 579.
Regular scanners will be eligible for discounts. However due to this machine being new in Australia it does require a referral from your doctor (until our exemption is finalised).
Introducing the latest technology previously only used for scientific research
iDXA scans can measure:
• Total fat tissue mass
• Lean tissue mass
• Total bone density
• Visceral fat mass
This information will provide you and your healthcare professional with precise information about your cardiovascular risk and need for preventative treatment.
Information about Total Body Scan
• Quick total body scan (approx. 4-5 min)
• Production of a report to take home following scan
• Non-invasive (able to remain full clothed)
• Minimal radiation dose exposure
Reasons for undergoing a Total Body Scan:
Most people are used to stepping on a scale at every visit to the doctor’s office. However, weight and BMI are not accurate methods to determine your cardiovascular risk. A body composition scan will assist you in identifying the distribution of your fat, muscle and bone mineral content. Adelaide BodyScan will then provide you with a report which individualises your total body composition.
Many patients become concerned about not losing weight despite changes in dietary habits and exercise routine. This may be due to a loss in visceral fat content but a gain in muscle mass. The total body scan will specifically measure those changes.
Visceral Fat
Evidence based research has highlighted the extreme importance of visceral fat (fat that accumulates around your abdominal organs) in the development of cardiovascular disease and onset of type 2 diabetes. Your estimated visceral fat content is critical in calculating your cardiovascular risk. Subcutaneous (cosmetic) fat is not as important in the diagnosis of cardiovascular risk.
The ratio of visceral vs subcutaneous fat is thought to be one of the key predictors for the development of metabolic disorders like type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and atherosclerosis (fat deposits in the arteries). These are the leading causes of heart attacks and strokes in our community.
I'm sure most of you are well aware of the benefits of having a scan, however the iDXA offers several advantages:
The benefits of Lunar iDXA are supported by these innovative features:
CLARITY
High-resolution images and exacting precision through latest generation DXA technology from GE
Research-grade image resolution helps provide a high degree of clinical confidence
Enhanced ability to locate artifacts, identify areas of high density and identify bone edges for exceptional accuracy and reproducibility of BMD results
Image quality comparable to radiographs helps you identify and classify vertebral deformities based on etiology, grade, and shape, but with a lower dose than conventional X-ray
Greater precision assists in detecting small and statistically significant changes sooner, which can help motivate patient compliance, guide treatment decisions, or reduce the sample size required for clinical trials
Narrow-angle fan beam technology with Multi-View Image Reconstruction (MVIR) eliminates magnification errors
Direct-to-digital detector with a staggered array eliminates dead spots while helping to more accurately identify region-of-interest boundaries
VERSATILITY
Product features that accommodate a large number of patient sizes and conditions
A large scan window and high arm height accommodate patients up to 200kgs
Full suite of bone health applications including BMD, vertebral fracture assessment, pediatrics, orthopedics and more
Body composition analysis including visceral fat quantification
Book your scan now at the special introductory price of $95
