Significant leads' after metal object discovered in Queensland banana
A metal object was reported in a banana in Queensland during an ongoing strawberry contamination scare.
A metal object has reportedly been discovered in a Queensland banana amid ongoing concern over numerous strawberry brands sabotaged with needles and pulled from supermarket shelves nationwide.
Queensland Police Commissioner Ian Stewart said police had received one report of a metal object in a banana but it is understood the incident was isolated and involved a person placing a metal object in a banana at a shop.
"There are significant leads in relation to that [banana] matter," he said.
Mr Stewart said the potential for copy-cat events was "very real" and the strawberry investigation was ongoing.
