I wouldn't get anything too soft, probably just increases the risk of rolling an ankle.
Rubber matting and decent shoes would be my recommendation, seems to work for most people doing box jumps

I have something similar to the above for deadlifts - dampens the noise.
It also feels nice to jump on. Its got a higher density rubber on top, by low density on the bottom. So it gives nice footing without being too squishy

I won't try bunnings, because they have lost my business due to their customer service; and monopoly of the market. Hope more competitors will give consumers more choices.
