Rugby league’s greatest battle deserves to be fought out in this country’s biggest sporting colosseum and next year it will be.

The NRL have announced that Game 2 of the 2015 State of Origin series will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It will be the first Origin game held at the venue since 1997.

NSW and Queensland graced the MCG turf three times during the '90s, with the inaugural 1994 game attracting 87,161 spectators.

The venue will also host the Four Nations meeting between Australia and England on November 2 later this year, as well as another Origin game in 2018.
 
I might try and get to that. Haven't watched a live afl game for 10 years, I would rather see state of origin, would get a massive crowd.

No one gives a fuck about Rugby league in Melb / Vic.

The ARL / NRL can go and get fucked.
They'll never get my money doing shit like this.
 
They are kunce. They are just trying to take some market share away from the AFL which will never happen. They are fixated with trying to be bigger than the AFL in Melb / Vic. It ain't gonna happen so they punish NSW who really want to see the game. The "REAL" fans.
 

They won't take any market share away from AFL but people in melbourne like watching sport so it will get a big crowd and there is no better stadium in Aus than the MCG.
 
Are you not reading. There are less paying spectators in MELB than Sydney. It's to try and gain market share. They are fucking delusional. They do more damage dollar wise taking the game there in the long run.

I'm reading, I just highly doubt a random bloke I am chatting to on a bodybuilding forum knows more about the inner workings of the NRL and how it should be run than the blokes currently running it.
