Rodrigo Ferraz, sometimes referred to as “Synthol Man”, is a Brazilian bodybuilder who has appeared in several YouTube videos dancing and showing off his physique. He is often accused of injecting the liquid solution synthol to augment the appearance of his muscles, a controversial practice that is generally looked down upon in bodybuilding and male fitness communities.
Online History
On October 23rd, 2009, Ferraz uploaded a video titled “Aprenda a Treinar na Sua Casa” (English: “Learn to Train in Your Home”) to his YouTube[1] channel, in which Ferraz gives various workout instructions while dancing to the song “Satisfaction” by DJ Benny Benassi. The channel has since been deleted, but the video was reuploaded by several YouTubers.

On June 6th, the rodrigoferrazofficial[5] YouTube channel was launched, which featured several videos of Ferraz dancing, rapping and displaying his physique. As of June 5th, 2012, a “Rodrigo Ferraz” Facebook[2] page has received over 600 likes.

Synthol Accusations
Ferraz has been nicknamed “Synthol Man” for purportedly abusing the liquid synthol[6], a solution comprised of oil, lidocaine and alcohol, which can mimic the appearance of developed muscles in sites where it is injected. On November 15th, 2009, RX Muscle Forums[7] member DMC posted a video of Ferraz in a thread titled “New Mr. Synthol”, to which forum member Voland posted a translation of Ferraz’s YouTube comment claiming that he was “natural.”
On November 15th, 2009, Steroid Forums[8] member Dancer started a thread titled “DSM’s synthol man”, which included a link to the same video. On April 24th, 2010, BodyBuilding Forums[9] member MPower916 posted a thread titled “Mr Synthol”, to which several forum members replied with videos and pictures of Ferraz. On September 23rd, 2010, Steroid forums member Exilus posted a thread titled “Rodrigo ‘synthol’ Ferraz – Before and after synthol”, which including photographs of Ferraz before (shown below, left) and after (shown below, right) his suspected synthol use:
