Is it ok to do some sit ups and push ups in mornings or before going to bed? In combination with a weights routine? Would doing pushups and situps interfere with the recovery time?

If you want to do them just include them in your normal routine, no need to do extra before bed oir in the morning. You need time to recover.

Everyone's recovery is different. I say fire away just take note of what your body is telling you in regards to over training

If he is already doing regular weight training which I would assume includes chest workouts (ie bench presses etc) there would be absolutely no need for the push ups every morning or night.

Hit the pushups right after your chest workout. Don't train the chest to failure every night.
