Dim started with me around 15 months ago. He was a classic bench only guy at a normal peoples gym.

At 67kg he could bench 80kg, had never squatted or deadlifted.

Tonight, weighing 72kg, he squatted 140kg, to go with his 190kg deadlift and 101kg bench press. A great effort. He will pull 200kg at the Nats.

I made two of my 2010 goals already with over 5 months to spare, thanks to PPP:

- Bench Press 100kg (did it twice) last Thursday)

- Squat 160kg - double bodyweight - today. Technically I failed the session (couldn't make 162.5kg - some issue with my technique) but I'm psyched!

I started the year with a 65kg x1 BP and 110kg x1 squat.

Thanks fellas

My 2010 goals are:

Squat 160 x1 (done), 120 x20 (done 115 x20)
Bench 100 (done)
Deadlift 200 (almost got 190 last Sat, dropped it at lockout )
Powerclean 80 (done 75)
Overhead 80 (done 82.5)

I'll finish my current PPP cycles then add new goals for the rest of the year.

By the time I finish the above, there will be a novice PL comp in September. If it's raw - I think it is - I'll sign up!

I've mentioned Ryan before. He started at PTC because his brothers trained here, and he was paying $80 a week for a physio due to his bad back. He is a builder and has had back problems for years.

Anyway, I get his back right, and he starts deadlifting in earnest. He finished his first cycle of PPP and managed a 220kg deadlift. Bad back?

So he starts his next cycle, 230kg, and finishes week 3 last night. He is lifting with Kelly. Once he finishes his weeks work, he asks if he can have a crack at 230kg, as he's feeling pretty strong. Kelly was confident. He pulls it easily. I tell him to go on the 240kg program, Kelly says he could pull that now.

So he does. He pulls 240kg so easily, that he is now on the 260kg program. He has been lifting for 5 months. His other lifts arent as advanced, 120kg bench and 140kg squat, but he came in mainly to correct his back issues.

I think its fixed.

That's a good story.

He's a tremendous guy who is over the moon at his improved condition, he feels bulletproof (pretty much is)

I have around 10 friends/wives/brothers/in laws from that group training at PTC currently. The guys all have a football background, 2 teach at private schools, the rest are tradies. Great bunch.

I should mention Kelly pulled 257.5kg to within 2" of lockout, straight after he pulled 250kg.

His bench and dead are up from the Vics. Unfortunately he trains squat at his gym and he tells me last night its actually dropped 2.5kg. We've made some adjustments, and hopefully we can do some squatting at PTC shortly, see if he can get that up.

He wont want Max outsquatting him at the Nats lol

I cant wait to start a full cycle of your PPP program after the nats.... my dead is suffering big time... on the contrary the squat just keeps going up.. bench im still struggling with joint pain in shoulder but ah well....

has anyone combine PPP with AAA say PPP 3 times a week for the powerlifts and AAA once or twice a week on the off days ?

okay, so i started ppp with a 130 squat, and set it for 150. it was some of the hardest workouts, but i got through it. in week 8 (the week i just did) i hit 140 and failed the next 140. i think this is my max that i will hit, and ill fail next week. also the sydney comp is in 10 weeks so i though i would start another cycle. i'm thinking of doing the 150 program again. i think it will still be hard. but just wanted to know what you thought.

being that it will be a bit easier i can do more assistance work, but maybe easier not want i want to be doing.

i can always move up mid cycle.
