Previously I've only worn runners when training, so obviously I've never bought any before. So because some brands will fit my feet better than others, I need to try some before handing over any cash. Is this actually possible in Melbourne?
Looks like iron edge is back in business. I don't know what they're stocking now but previously you could try on the shoes and go and have a squat in them to see how they feel.
WoodyAllen: I think we all know that shoe sizes can vary between brands. For "normal" shoes I usually take a size 9E. My Brooks Adrenaline are size US 11.5 D.
Repacked: I emailed Iron Edge and they said I couldn't try before ordering. They are showing Nike Romaleos 2 in stock. Around $210 delivered.
However, thanks to the two of you I should be able to try a pair of Nike Romaleos 3 at a local Nike store. There are a couple near me.

Can't say I've ever seen them in a Nike store....Can't say I've ever been 2+ sizes different in shoes either. Usually a 9, my Inov8 Fast Lifts and Iron Tank ones are all true to size.
How much of a heel do you want? If you don't want too much but something better than runners, look at something like the Adidas Powerlifts, good value at about $120...Wiggle are good if you can find your size. Usually heavily discounted when they're running stock out.
White_Lie: This will be my first pair of powerlifting/weightlifting shoes, so anything would probably be better than the squishy old runners I used to use. I've just emailed Nike to see where I can try them on. I tried emailing Adidas, but it didn't send, so I'll try call them tomorrow. Or just go to their head office, it isn't that far from me.
Yeah. Any business that goes down the tubes coming back is dodgy. One can only assume that everyone got paid, including suppliers. Otherwise this is all a snow job:
Nike said that because all stores are all franchise businesses, I have to contact the stores individually to check for stock. Adidas said the Powerlift.3 Shoes are online only, so can't help at all. But Adidas do have free delivery and free returns, so that may be my best option. Probably not on price, but at least I'll be able to get my shoe size correct for free!

I just had a chat with my wallet and the reply I got was to order the cheaper pair first. I have previously said this will be my first pair of weightlifting shoes, so either pair will be better than the squishy old runners I used to wear whilst squatting.
