Noooooo......Elbow Pain!

Synthesized

New member

Wow, what a crappy first post but I just came back from gym and I'm feeling a pain around my elbow.

Shattered!!!

Anyone know what the most common issue would be?

Whats the recovery time like

sleep on it first and see how it feels in the morning. Did you feel anything pop/etc while lifting or did it just get sore after the session?

not a doctor but i would ice it, take a couple of neurofin if its really bad and give it a day or so and see how it goes.
If there is no change after 3 days consider seeing a doc.

Yep, ill give that a go and see what happends.

what were you doing at the gym today?
Chest and Tri's so:
DB Press
DB Flys
Dips
Cable Crossover

Skull crushers
Close Grip BB Press
Tricep pushdown with rope

Elbow Pain

Depends on where the pain is localised. If on the inside of elbow, is probably Tennis Elbow, if on the outer side, Golfer Elbow. Google both and I think you will gain an understanding of the biomechanics involved. Either way, is tendon soreness from repetitive stress. Probably best to RICE it - ice and rest is good combo.

too much volume?
i wouldnt say that, it looks like a standard BBing program to me

def sounds like a tendon strain though and was probably in the making and this workout set it off
rest and ice as posted above it will subside with cessation of training but its quite possible it will return in a few workouts
if it does return once you have given it a break then you are really best off finding a good sports Dr, dont waste your time with regular GPs or their referred specialists save your money and time and go right to somebody reputable

where are you located?

Might be standard BB split but it could still be too much volume for him, particularly if he's not eating and sleeping enough, and genetically predisposed to not cope with volume
I use elbow extension for maybe 12-13 sets a week spread over 2 or 3 days and even that occasionally leaves me with sore elbows
Not to mention that if you do elbow flexion exercises in close proximity to the extensions (is day before or after) there's a high chance that you're putting a lot if strain on your tendons and ligaments

Well, if it's not too much volume, do more, more is better right?

Um, 5 excersise requiring extension of the elbow. Two of them major compound movements, three of them isolation. I'm all for stupid amounts of volume but at an average of 4 sets a rep that is a lot of strain to be putting an elbow through.
