Gday Oliver, if I'm not mistaken I recognise your name from a fitness subforum... BOS??
The_Hulk (Adrian) knows a lot about gym equipment. Have you also read PTC's love letter to his new power rack?
Aah, I don't know a great deal about equipment so I'll leave it for others to comment on. However, very nice squat! Be sure to poke around the threads here, you'll find quite a few are similar to you in strength.
Your plan is basic and really good, you have everything you need. I would only add a chin bar and dip bars.
Dont worry about the rack not holding the weight, I use them where I work and I dont know anyone who could squat more than they hold.
The powertec is good but at $1490? The muscle motion at $595 is much better value for money in my opinion, even if I was spending that much, the 200kg rack that is in PTC would be the one I would choose (if room was not an problem, which it isnt for me).
Does the powertec come with lat attachment? Not really needed for the powerlifting exercises, that could be what the extra cash is supplying
Not trying to sway your decision oliver, but $895 is a lot of money to save! That could buy your weight set
I used to like the cheaper muscle motions but this video put me off ('muscle motion power rack dip attachment' on youtube). Watch how much it shakes.
The rack does shake a little in that vid with the dip attachment.
The reason is because the flooring it's on is not solid, it's only a chipboard floor on steel C-purlins which span about 6m, so even just walking on the floor has movement.
G'day Adrian,
Apologies for knocking your rack, I didn't know about the floor.
I know thats what my squat rack does at home and it makes it sketchy as.
Dude I train at home but have a 4 bay shed full of stuff.
PTC #2?i just bought a house with a double garage and i cant wait to set it up as a gym, ive got a squat rack and some kettlebells already, gonna get some more kettlebells, some rubber matting, weight rack, and dip bar to start off with.
