Mountain biking downhill

* Stand up. Standing up makes you more stable, and allows your legs to absorb the bumps, making your legs act as 'shock absorbers.' making for a smoother ride

*Look ahead. Look up and ahead and plan the track ahead of you

*Use your handlebars. in the case of emergency where you may need to brake hard use your handlebars to help aid you . Shift your weight all the way back behind the saddle and push hard against your handlebars to keep you from being launched off.

* Pedals even. Keep your pedals even to each other , it will improve your balance and also stop them from getting snagged on roots and rocks.

*Stand Up When going up a steep hill standing up allows you to put a lot more pressure, or torque on the pedals.

* Lean use your weight When your back wheel is spinning shift your weight back to get more traction. Shift your weight forward if the front wheel starts lifting

*Use your handlebars They can be used to apply moretorque to your pedalling stroke, and gives you better balance.

If a hill looks too steep get off of your bike and walk it up. The same goes for obstacles if a part of the trail makes you uncomfortable get off your bike and walk it

Mountain Bike Cornering

lean into the turn.

shift back Shifting your weigh back puts more pressure on your rear tire, making it less likely to slip out from under you.

pedals even Keep your pedals even to each other , it will improve your balance and also stop them from getting snagged on roots and rocks.

look ahead Look up and ahead and plan the track ahead of you

front brake If you are in the correct position with your weight back over the rear tye you will not be sent over the handlebars. Using the front brake will decrease sliding, and increase stopping time and distance

If you're having a lot of difficulty on steep climbs, you might consider some bar-ends. Bar-ends bring your center of gravity both forward and also down, helping you to stick to the trail better. They offer control, power and also extra grip positions
