LF Positive Points for gym to purchase Powerlifting Equipment

My gym is currently in the process of a large expansion and I talked to the Manager about getting some proper powerlifting equipment. He's asked me to write an email to the Owner explaining why. Looking for help with the positive side of purchasing some PL gear, ie Monolift, Comp Bench, competition bars, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers. Need some good selling points.

The comp bench would be the most probable piece of equipment theyd wanna get in. Face savers bring a massive degree of safety, and being a bench specialist youll benefit most for it.

Getting a mono would be the biggest fight. Bars could be an issue but can always argue a properly made bar won't bend and won't need replacing so would save money in the long run but then again do they really care about that sort of thing

Cheers, some of the positives I've already run across,

Safety
Quality
Lifters coming from other gyms to use the equipment (membership)

Regular racks, something nice and sturdy nothing fancy needed here
Bars from AusBarbellCo (Australian Barbell Company | Olympic code BO220BN)
Bench from Scott Wasson or "Awesome As"
Platform for deadlifts or weightlifting
Texas deadlift bar

Probably don't need a monolift.
Wouldn't cost much for all of the above. The main thing would be marketing, the market is there you just need to attract the people in

Cheers Alex, I've msg'd Scott to see if he's still constructing Bench's, I was thinking one of the Okie bars from Scott as well instead of a Texas, thoughts?

Yerp. Push the safety aspect. Crappy bench press setups are dangerous, with no face savers. You can push the same message with bars. A decent bar with proper knurl will be safer to use.

Never used one. If Scott likes them I'm sure they are fine

I guess also the big question is what "sort" of gym is it? Do you have Powerlifters there? Bodybuilders? at a highish/semi high level? Do you have good powerlifters or guys/gals who would be interested in Powerlifting in your area?

Turn it into an investment to them - advise that this could attract more and different sorts of members - expanding the member base which I am guessing is avg joe/fitness class people/bro's - with a mix of some serious bbers/powerlifters?

I think PL bench/barbells/lifting platform would be the key things to look at 1st with maybe some bands and even chains - a Mono lift is a fairly big investement - so you might want to explain once they have expanded the member base/sort of member base that a Monolift could be in sight.

At the end of the day as mentioned turn it into an investment to them not just "coz you want them, or coz they are safe" - if a gym can cater for more people and different sorts of people then at the end of the day the more money they make.

Are there any specialized powerlifting type gyms in your area? Markos put up a good post about the number of people competing over the last few years is definitely on the increase. If there aren't any PL gyms in your area then it is potentially an untouched market if they get some good equipment in that people will want to use.

A mono is probably the last thing you need. Focus on the longevity of high quality bars/benches/racks. Start small. A $5000 mono that most people wouldn't know what it was on first glance is a bit of a waste unless it's a powerlifting orientated gym. I'd be more inclined to spend the money on good racks, good bars and good benches.

Also the Okie bars are awesome. I'm picking one for PTC up tomorrow. They are the original deadlift bar. The texas bar was copied from the okie specs. The knurling is next level.

Cheers guys, I actually talked to the Manager today and he's already on it, new section about 200 square meters for a powerlifting/olympic section. Although he's already got a supplier, Iron Edge. Some of there stuff looks decent, not sure about there bars though, will have to work on that.

I'm making benches still, but that's about it.

I need a break from fab work to enjoy the stuff I've built lol.

I do however sell okie squat and DL bars, and soon I'll be stocking bumper plates and gym flooring.
