Gotta say anyone struggling in the gym is not gona be magically motivated just cause there is a rack at home. Train at a regular gym for a while and make sure you got the bug before you drop the dough on a home setup.
Anyonw that doesn't trawl ebay and gumtree for bargains is stupid too. See rack and bar +100kg come up all the time for 200-300 just gotta be patient and wait.

I've been looking on Ebay and Gumtree a lot, thanks Fluffy.
There are some pretty decent squat cages on Ebay for around $400. But then I realized I would need an olympic barbell to a squat cage along with a whole new set of weights. From there it hurts my brain to think about how much I would be spending on something that I may see no results with.
Check out jzpowahz log he has the cheapest squat rack going and all standard gear, the results he is getting are amazing.
It can be done on the cheap but really if I was you just find an okay gym stay there get to know the regulars, fall in love with lifting, become a gym rat.
What page does he say what squat rack he has?
I think your missing my point mate, which is that your attitude is just as important as your equipment and environment.
I've always been cheap with things lol
I get the message, I'll start saving for something of high quality.
No mate I'm saying the opposite you can get plenty strong with cheap gear. Just lurk gumtree and ebay and get a rack for a couple hundred, weights can be gotten for a couple bucks a kg, you can buy an oly bar for $85 from cyberfit.
Tje thing that really seperates the weak from the lofters is consistency and dedication. Kerp at it and you see results, there is no secret, it can't ne done in a hurry, just plod away and reap the rewards.
