How far to reset after long break from training

Jungnaut

Just wondering how far should I consider reducing the weight amount after taking a long break from training (4 months). So, lets say I was benching 100kg prior to my break, should I halve the amount and then start from there again? Or maybe higher? (50 sounds a bit low, lol)

I want to achieve the balance of not going too hard too early and also give myself enough margin to progress and re-acquaint my body to the rigours of training again.

75% is probably a better percentage.

But might be best to just try and hit your old bests withing say 6-8 weeks.

so if you aiming for 5 sessions of bench a fortnight and add 2.5kgs each time, just start at 67.5 or 75 or so. (hope that makes sense and that my maths is right lol)

Just pick a weight that is light and snappy and work up from there...
Always better to start too light imo
