I taught myself squatting with rippetoes material. That's legs shoulder or a bit wider width apart, toes 30 degrees out or so, bar on the lower back.
After seeing a few pics of markos gym, all of them have their toes pointing nearly forward, , shoulder width apart and the bar high on their traps. also they have their thumbs around the bar and not on top.
Now i'm starting to wonder if I should switch my style or not.
Low bar, narrow stance (feet closer than shoulder width), feet at 45 degrees, drive with the hips.
In terms of high bar/low bar and stance, squat however you like . Pick one and stick with it, and if down the track its obvious one style is failing swap to the other.
Stance is an individual thing, and I'd suggest that thumbs around isnt the best way to grip the bar.
flexibility seems to be a big issue with low bars. How I got around it is by not actually holding the bar (I just clench my fist and let the palms of my hands push against it).
Due to intestinal illness and previous back injuries (non gym related) I now squat as instructed by my phsyio. Back supported, not below parallel and with a dumbbell in each hand. Not the most ideal for other but the best I can do.
