how do you squat?

I taught myself squatting with rippetoes material. That's legs shoulder or a bit wider width apart, toes 30 degrees out or so, bar on the lower back.

After seeing a few pics of markos gym, all of them have their toes pointing nearly forward, , shoulder width apart and the bar high on their traps. also they have their thumbs around the bar and not on top.

Now i'm starting to wonder if I should switch my style or not.

how do you guys squat?

Low bar, narrow stance (feet closer than shoulder width), feet at 45 degrees, drive with the hips.

In terms of high bar/low bar and stance, squat however you like . Pick one and stick with it, and if down the track its obvious one style is failing swap to the other.

Stance is an individual thing, and I'd suggest that thumbs around isnt the best way to grip the bar.

Its like taste in women...

I squat wider then shoulder width toes 45degree out.
High bar though wanting to try low bar but cant seem to get it to sit right...

high bar. feet a little outside shoulders, toes 30 degrees out.

i cant get the low bar to sit right, and hurts it my shoulders/wrists, probably just a technique thing

flexibility seems to be a big issue with low bars. How I got around it is by not actually holding the bar (I just clench my fist and let the palms of my hands push against it).

Due to intestinal illness and previous back injuries (non gym related) I now squat as instructed by my phsyio. Back supported, not below parallel and with a dumbbell in each hand. Not the most ideal for other but the best I can do.

Reasons for this? I thought the thumbs around was to help you keep your wrist straight so that you aren't holding the bar up with your wrist?

Because thumbs around is pretty much a guarantee of your arms intercepting the bar.

That picture looks similar to how I hold it, is there something wrong with that? Can you show me a picture of the way you think it should be?

Thanks

Oh I thought thumbs around means the same thing as thumbless. As in the thumbs are around over the bar... lol
