For every problem there is a solution. I've learnt 30 years ago (from people [coaches] who knew much more than I and had the experience behind them to back their words and methods, that your problem may have its remedy in performing partial repetitions, especially at the point where you find you're getting stuck.

This applies to squats, bench, and the like.

The partial reps can be done two ways:

1. In a power rack with pins placed at your weakest/sticking point, or

2. By placing a piece of wood (with relative thickness) on top of your chest to accomplish the same result as in option #1.

All the best Champ.

I am with Freako, do more pressing, I am benching 2-3 5time a week up to 100 reps a session aswell as high volume dips, and one session of military press., I am really wanting a bigger base as my bench has also plateaued. I am also doing db presses, bb rows, as assisatant exercises. My aim is to add 10kg plus to my 1rm in 12 -16 weeks.

Weighted dips will help build tricepts, if you have a poor lockout, paused presses, and boards / pin presses will help with off the chest issues.

now go eat.

Its normal to be able to press less with DB's, yeah? I can do 80kg on barbells, only 70 on DB's. Its not the actual reps thats the problem, its just hard to get into the starting position. Dont wanna rock back and smash onto the floor lol.

I would love to see Ryan Kennely bench 2x500lb dumbbells lol
