I would go with the half rack just for stability reasons.

I would go for the squat stands if the bird with the pink top comes with them.

If you have the money, go for a full squat rack as they are more versatile. But otherwise the half rack is noice.

If its just squatting may as well just use stands, that's all we use, they are plenty stable!! If you'll be doing some bench or anything like that then go the rack

The half rack doesn't look like there would be much room to manouver your feet (actually the same goes for the squat stands, when used for squatting, as the pink girl demonstrates).

The only time you will need the safety bars is when you are lifting something too heavy for you to handle at that time - and then you will want to be able to put your feet wherever you need to, to be able to stablilise yourself, and you will also not appreciate having such a tiny target to set the bar down on. I'd say get a power rack.

For benching without a spotter, the half rack looks good - but then you could do as I have done, and get a couple of saw-horses from Bunnings ($15 each) to do the job.

Gumtree.. right place right time you can pick up a good 'ol bargain.

I wouldn't be able to dump the bar on the safeties on either of those with confidence. I have the mental image of the whole lot turning into a roll cage lol.

And gumtree is where you meet up and get murdered, been looking at gumtree hopefully something comes up in no rush to build my backyard setup.

Hey guys,

Thinking of getting a squat stand myself in the next few weeks as well as a bar, some plates and an ajustable bench... should be able to cover just about everything then: deads, squats, rows, curls mil presses and benching.

This bench seems interesting http://www.worldfitness.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=2_33&products_id=1198

But i have a feeling this would last longer: http://www.gymdirect.com.au/shop/st...stable-benches/adjustable-flat-incline-bench/

And i think this rack would be great: http://www.gymdirect.com.au/shop/strength-equipment/racks/squat-racks-and-stands/safety-squat-rack/

The second bench looks like the ones they use at my local Goodlife, so at least its like commercial standard. The first one looks interesting because its dodgey as, I mean where are you going to bolt the legs down to. The garage floor? lol

I think the rack would be great too, bit pricey but.. have seen preloved racks on gumtree for much less, they go quick though so got to jump in faster than a panda on heat.

Oh yeah would get a half rack if i ever see it advertised locally :) Not much happening in regional Qld though lol
