Bench press

Knock the weight back and rebuild and make every set tight, even the pissy warm-ups. Since I took up this practice my shoulders have been practically trouble free when they used to be a regular mess. Sacrificing form for weight on the bar while training is just stupid and as you are discovering, risky.

The only thing with close grip benching is that its a different exercise - so if you are looking at replacing bench then look at replacing it with an exercise that is hitting the same muscle.

Close grip is great - but dont replace your normal bench for it.

You're joking right. The grip is just narrowed by a few cm either side. That hardly makes it a totally different exercise targeting different muscles.

Right. lol - so are you doing a close grip or are you simply bringing your hands in acouple of cms? You stated you were doing a close grip press.

Close grip is a different exercise to bench - hitting different muscles.

Yeah, right. Lol.

If you think close grip bench and bench are so different they can't be interchanged you gotta lay of the drugs.

They are different exercises - doing both of course will have somewhat of a carry over to either but they are different exercises.
