Here we have PA taking baby steps towards sensible rules (5 year masters classes, no need for jockey style underwear, etc) while our new APU fed is being pushed to consider taking 5 steps back into the dark ages.
i think asking the asc for clariification is smart imo, especially when ownership of the venue is by a senior official of another federation with vastly diferent rules.
and it is an apu rule that hosting an apu meeting requires apu membership.
Dafuq has that got to do with anything? Maybe to clarify you could get a pair and provide the details. Or is this one of those "Father O'leary raped a boy once so it's OK for me to do it" type of bullshit lines of reasoning?
Why, because they don't have some dipstick pushing to have venue owners forced to become members?
I'm a fully paid up APU member and a competitor and a member of the 2018 World Championships team and happy to be so. Plus, and this is the more important point, it's the only way I can compete in my current situation.
You're a fully paid up nobody who does nothing with a nothing competitive lifting history. You are like a sports commentator who got moved across from the weather department.
Dial 000. You need some treatment for dat dere burn.

Again, why would ownership require membership if they are not running the meet?
If a meet was being held at a warehouse would the warehouse owner need to be a member?
Maybe you should stick to your day job and not try to weasel into the workings of a powerlifting federation. Hey, I hear crossfit could use someone like you.
And by hosting do you mean meet director? Or venue owner? Because they are 2 different things.
Tish, my wife, is the meet director, and will be a financial member.
Or or does it say the venue Owner must be also? Because that would be silly IMO.

anyone that stands to benefit from apu, even if they are providing a venue or helping, should be an apu member.
this is also true of people from other feds, including those which have no drug testing.
you can not have a situation where someone can own a gym and compete in a rival fed without ensuring that he or she is also subject to the same rules as ordinary apu members.
common sense really.
scott, what are your reasons for not joining. are you not allowed, is the money an issue, what are your reasons.

you are someone that has little knowledge about powerlifting history in Australia. it is common knowledge about how a person stopped another fed from using a certain venue. do some research.
just imagine if other apu or potential apu members see that a gpc official is hosting or benefiting from a comp, but will not join. why would the apu allow such a perception to emerge, even if it is based on falsehoods.
that is why any gpc member involved in the apu, which the apu welcomes, must also be members of the apu.
if the apu does not insist, then negative perceptions will emerge and certain people will be all over it.
I can wear the criticism of this situation, but my first loyalty is to ensure that the apu covers all bases.
I aso discussed this with an ipf person who agreed, despite also being understanding of your reasons.

not sure about that yet. apu is contacting asc about whether your situation is okay.
my opinion is you should and must be a member. I certainly am against any gpc member being associated with apu comps if they are not a member for reasons I have stated.
if you have a problem with me, that is fine. but I am sticking to my guns.
