I didn't like the nutritionist I saw. I can't take strength advice from a man who is mainly a golf coach. Plus, he was more a fan of Paul Chek, he had just done the Poliquin training. Didn't really believe in it, but could apply it if he was asked.
To get the tests he recommended the doctor he worked with, but gave me a letter that I could take to any doctor. In the end I just went to a doctor and asked for the tests that I wanted. Doctor asked why and I told him that it was on the advice of a trainer and nutritionist. Just wrote out the pathology request for me. You pay for the test, so unlikely that a doctor says no.
I didn't go back to the trainer, but the advice he gave me wasn't livable such as eat no foods that have come into contact with plastic. My own PT has done quite a bit of research in the area, and with his and my knowledge combined, we have found ways to make it more workable.
One thing is that Poliquin recommends a pinch test to determine fat distribution. Given that a DEXA scan is only $70 would recommend that as it is more accurate and less room for fault.
