Anavar and swollen tongues?

One of my friends has been running anavar by itself for about 12 weeks at 30 mg a day with great results but last week for the second time his tongue swelled up a little and was covered in red bumbs/small blisters.i know steroids can cause swollen tongues but i was wondering if anyone new why and threw what method the body makes this comes about.As i cant find much on the subject.He wasnt able to eat for 3 days and i told him to see his doctor but he was unable to tell him why it came about.So anyone got an idea?
