Active competitors?

I know a few people compete in some comps here.

Who competes? What do you compete in? (body building, weightlifting, powerlifting, strong man etc) What category/age are you in?

I've never done this competitively, I'm keen to have a go probably next year. Looking at weight lifting.

due to a lot of commitments outside of the gym, i've only been able to compete in weightlifting once. The next comp is on in a few weeks & i'll be missing that for a my nieces birthday. That's more important getting on the platform. That said, i'll lift on thursday & use that as a postal entry. What i lift, will go on the board for saturday (the day of the comp

Alot of weightlifters, very few bodybuilders (if any). I am planning to compete in a bodybuilding competition next year though so hopefully someone comes out of the woodworks otherwise I'll be winging it!

Actively compete in both Powerlifting and Strongman. Currently 100kg class, soon to be 110kg.

I train with Powerlifters and Bodybuilders. Only one other Strongman unfortunately, so we make due with what we've got. No "real" Event equipment but we make due with fat grips and improvising when necessary. It's not that big up here.

What ever you end up choosing to do, get to it as soon as you can. You wont regret it. It's a serious amount of fun and a great way to get better at it.

Though Oly lifting is just dancing with a barbell.

That's quite impressive spritcha.

What were your lifts for these? (if you remember)

I used to play a couple of sports at decent rep levels during my teens. But I haven't for few years. I've put off proper competition for a little while now mainly because people keep telling me im too old for the proper comps, only really worth jumping in the social comps. But I reckon with a couple years of serious competition I could have a dig at some sort of representation.

Also obtained national referee qualification this year for powerlifting australia

Next up is a highland games type comp mid november, and possibly an olympic lifting comp at end of November.
