Gary Ablett - A Football Dynasty (part 1)
Here it is folks!
The essential Gary Ablett chronology featuring many memorable moments throughout his illustrious career.
Recruited by Hawthorn in 1982, Gary would eventually sign with Geelong and wear the number 5 Guernsey made famous by 'Polly' Farmer nearly two decades earlier.
Ablett would go on to play 248 games, kick 1030 goals and have many refer to him as the greatest player of all time.
It's unfortunate that many of his finest highlights throughout the 1980's are no longer available, as there really wasn't another player quite like him in full flight.
He was able to kick 50+ meters on both the right & left foot, outrun the fastest and had the rare ability to jump sideways/backwards, hang in the air to take down mark of the day on a weekly basis
Part one focuses on his early playing days with various comments from past teammates & friends, it also highlights his sensational final series in 1989 culminating in the 1989 grand final against the mighty Hawks.
When dealing with the name Ablett, I understand much public debate will be generated and I respect all opinions both negative or positive in nature.
Due to Ablett's popularity amongst younger footy lovers, I kindly ask for all comments made to be opinionative and relevant to his playing career as inappropriate or abusive language will be removed.
Thank you for your understanding and I hope you enjoy.
