    Strength & Conditioning for footballers

I was just trying to illustrate that it's easier to get stronger / gain weight / get fitter when you are younger. Not that you can't get strong or fit when you're old, it just takes longer. Mainly because of recovery times.

    Strength & Conditioning for footballers

It would be almost impossible for them not to improve wouldn't it? As for being young. At 19 I went from 70 odd kg to 80 odd in a year from nothing more than 3 meals per day and Army PT 5 days per week (mainly circuits, some pack marching, a fair bit of running). I wasn't even trying to gain...

    Beginners program

You should be able to up the weight a little every session for quite a while assuming you are eating enough. The stronger you are to start with and the less you are eating, the less time you'll be on linear progression. I've just moved to twice per week increases, instead of thrice, on the...

    Gym versus nutrition

I'm slowly convincing one of the young trainees at work that he needs to be eating more after complaining of being stuck at 80 kg (6'2" ish), despite "PT four times per week and gym after work 5 days per week". Day 1 Me: "What did you have for breakfast?" Trainee: "Nothing, we had a room...

    Why did you start lifting?

My name is Luke, I'm 26, married, with a 7 month old. I started lifting to get back to my pre-cancer, pre-heart attack self. I was in reasonable shape up until Mar 07 being in the Army for around 5 years at that stage. Not very strong, but I could do a lot of pull ups and push ups... I was...

    Training for size AND strength

Hi guys, I've been lurking for a while, and I started doing this program along with 4L of milk. 6 sessions so far. Markos would class me as a beginner. So, 20 reps squats are hard. I wanted to know if it's normal for my back where the bar rests to be much more painful than my legs. The legs are...
