    Squat depth

PowerBuilder does oly lifting have all this drama that powerlifting does? I like Gregg Everett's definition of depth, he makes it clear that in oly lifting the only acceptable depth is to the limit of your flexibility. Fair enough, I guess there are no shortcuts.

    Squat depth

Where do I get one of these legs, how much will it cost, and will my squat improve immediately? Or if I keep on doing Sheiko will I just grow one?

Brian Drescher: YouTube - Brian 'the Living Legend' Drescher @ 2007 Empire State Games YouTube - The Weightlifing Philosophies of Brian Drescher But yeah I get your point. There are a lot of politics in powerlifting, I find it slightly amusing but I'm sure it will get tiring soon enough.

Who's had a bad experience with a Physio?

Chiro's are also recognised as DR's... I like osteo's and physios but neither are doctors in the same way an actual doctor is a doctor. Even chiro's aren't bad so long as they stick to their area of expertise. When they start claiming that they can fix skin problems by manipulating the spine...

    Squat depth

Nah, missed it, started writing the post before the edit. But my point still stands, if a fed allows its judges to give white lights to high squats then they can't expect to be taken seriously by everyone else.

    Squat depth

It may be a fair comp but it's not comparable to feds that enforce depth. If you're going to claim a world record the squat should pass in most major feds. You don't see local footy leagues calling it a goal when the ball passes directly over the post just because our was almost a goal. If they...

    Interview with Benedikt Magnusson

I find it interesting that he likes to keep all of his work in the 70-80% range. I've been reading through The Science and Practice of Strength Training and they reckon that elite weightlifters use 70-80% of their comp maxes in 35% of the time and on average the weight lifted is 75% +/- 2%...

    Stepping down as a mod

I'm sure there would be room for a PTC in Sydney anyway, there are a few black iron gyms in Melbourne and they all have plenty of clients. I think Don Stevenson also has a good gym in Sydney.

Interesting article. A couple of things stood out for me:

    Squat depth

Here's another angle on Wilkerson's squat: YouTube - Robert Wilkerson Still looks high to me though it's hard to tell with thighs like that exactly where his hip is. I have a feeling that that lift was never going to be redlighted. Is bending the rules like this a new thing in powerlifting...

    Andrey Malanichev at PTC

I was reading some thing that said that they had to have below a 3% positive test rate or something before being considered for the olympics. I don't know what can be done though, not every country has testing programs like Australia and I assume pretty much every tested sport has at least some...

    Female training-PTC style

Speaking of strong girls, there's a 14 year old girl at my gym that squats 110kg. She weighs maybe 70, I'm not sure though she could be less. She's probably stronger than all the boys her age, she just looks like a normal girl though. Won't see her powerlifting though as she's a bloody good...

    Stepping down as a mod

The problem with being a mod is that you have to hold back on what you really want to say a lot of the time. I hope you still keep on posting here, and there's definitely room for proraw threads IMO. BTW do the mods have a private forum? usually stuff like this is discussed privately between...
