    Casey Stoner announces retirement

Doesn't he suffer from allot of unknown sickness etc.....maybe he is just thinking fuck it, need a less stressful way of life. He has the funds to do whatever he wants, maybe he wants less spotlight on him etc. In any case, he has been a real 'old school' warrior on the bike, and has my respect...

    Flat Bench

Going on how it feels, I would say front delts for me as well as forearms and chest, but not as much chest involvement as when I dumbbell bench press. I've heard the lats get a bit of use, but honestly I haven't learnt to do barbell bench correctly enough to get the most out of all muscles...

    Experiencing squat pain

Try switching to a different stance for a while, let the body heal a bit. Or better still switch to front squats and increase your core strength, this will help alleviate the hips as you will load them more evenly with a stronger core. Good luck with it Nazz G

    Machines, my thoughts.

I'm a fan of free weights, but agree that machines have their place. Actually I would love to own some machines for more variety if nothing else. Plus I really like the chest press I used once, it just hit my chest so dam good, like nothing else lol. So yeh they are great for isolation...

    Pull-up or pull down?

Personally. I like both and can't say one is better than the other. But as I train at home, I just do pull-ups, band assisted for higher reps etc. lately low reps BW as I can't do more than about 5-8 without bands.

    Fat Tax

I don't like the precedent being set. I think Maccas and KFC etc are all crap and they already cost allot. If I was to take my kids to maccas, it would set me back $40 at least, that's not cheap! And I bet most fat people would spend that much at woolies so they could get more junk food for the...

    Maintaining strength/size

Deadlift/squat/bench=heavy Train briefly and intensely, if you don't you won't maintain shit as your body will do what it does best, adapt to whatever conditions you throw at it. If you go on hols and don't train, your body won't be adapting to training will it. You will prob hold onto most of...

    extreme feats of strength

My friend's old man rolled his little tractor on the edge of a dam, he was slashing at the time. Any way we were swimming in the dam, his dad got pinned under the front wheel and my mate swam over in 2 seconds flat and pulled his dad out by dragging him through the mud under the wheel...

topic of the week -How Can We Educate Others About power lifting?

@ OP; Honestly I think we need to just get people lifting weights. As much as Xfit has been bagged by peeps, it's done wonders for the average Joe taking an interest in strength training, well at least using a bloody barbell. If more strength based gyms open up and the main stream health...

    T.U.T (Time under tension)

Ok, I see what your saying, but then if TUT is not being a consideration, why then do bodybuilders use higher reps than powerlifters? Wouldn't a low rep range done many times over enable one to use a higher load thus 'damaging' the muscle more enabling more growth? TUT would be the same, but...

    T.U.T (Time under tension)

Is T.U.T important for strength gain or muscle hypertrophy or both? The reason I ask is because I was wondering if I understand T.U.T correctly. Say I do 10 deadlift singles, and each rep takes 2-3 seconds. Total T.U.T would be around the 20-30 second mark. Which would be roughly the same as...

    4 day splits

Bazza has a bloody good point Every bodybuilder who says weight doesn't matter is talking shit. To build your body you must subject it to increasing loads so it will grow, adapt and get stronger. But there is a point where bodybuilding has less need for increased weight, when those who BB...

    Arnold S. training 3 to 3 times a day?

I think anything works if you make it, but really ask yourself this; Will you stick to training 2-3 times a day? I know I couldn't, especially if I was on holidays. Fuck, I've gone back to 3 times a week because I made more progress doing that than anything else. I looked back over my training...

Need advice on training program! BEGINNER!!

I would suggest you work at a rate of 80% of your 1rm in the rep range of around 5-8 and about 3-8 sets depending. Example: Bench press 1rm= 100kg Work rate of 80%= 80kg x 3-8 sets x 5-8 reps. (I do 4 sets) I usually do 4 sets of an exercise and do around 5-6 exercises per body part per...

    I Believe....Do You?

If so called 'blokes' want to put their penis in each others arse, I could give a rats FFS. I don't feel sorry for that story, what did they expect FFS. Do I have gay friends?...Nup...do I care who or what you root?...Nup...should they be allowed to marry?....guess so, seems like the next thing...
